Euclid, born in Athens about 330 BC, was an ancient Greek mathematician and one of the three early mathematicians of the Alexandria school. Euclid was educated at Plato College in Athens in his early years. He studied various scientific cultures of Greek classical mathematics. Due to the decline of Athens, the mathematical world is in trouble as well as other sciences. Euclid became famous around 300 BC, and later lived in Alexandria at the invitation of Ptolemy, the king who ruled Egypt, and engaged in mathematical research. It is said that King Ptolemy once asked Euclid if there were any other shortcuts to learning geometry besides your Elements of Geometry. Euclid replied: There is no paved road for kings in geometry.
