In the PYP stage, the course revolves around five key words:
Knowledge: including language, mathematics, science, art, personal, social and sports and social sciences.
Idea: While students are studying the course, they are encouraged to acquire deeper knowledge inside and outside the subject by asking questions and form their own system.
Skills: refers to the skills that students acquire when they acquire knowledge inside and outside the classroom.
Attitude: refers to students' international vision and attitude towards the community they live in.
Action: Responsible, thoughtful and appropriate action.
PYP students can start learning a second language after the age of 7. MYP (Middle-aged Program) was officially opened on 1994. The courses at this stage are open to students aged 1 1 to 16. This stage of the course aims to encourage students to effectively connect their knowledge with the world. People expect them to sympathize with others and pursue a meaningful and purposeful life. At this stage, these students are encouraged to explore domestic and foreign issues and become creative, critical and reflective.
In the MYP stage, the course is divided into eight aspects:
Language acquisition (language acquisition)
Language and literature (language and literature)
Individuals and society.
Science (science)
Mathematics (mathematics)
Art (art)
Physical education and health education.
Design (design)
Every year, MYP students need to do an interdisciplinary project. In addition, the MYP project gives these students an opportunity to discover themselves, learn to solve problems and make decisions. DP project is the earliest stage in the whole IB curriculum system (1968). The courses at this stage are for students aged 16 to 19. The whole course lasts for two years, which is equivalent to senior two and senior three in China. After completing the DP course, you can enter the university.
Course introduction
The whole course is divided into six subject group courses and three core courses.
Each subject group course is divided into advanced courses and standard courses. For advanced courses, students need to complete at least 240 hours of courses. For standard courses, students should complete at least 150 hours of homework. Generally speaking, students will choose three advanced courses and three standard courses. Some students have stronger challenge thinking, and they will choose to study four advanced courses and two standard courses.
The six theme groups are:
Group 1: Language A (mother tongue)
Group 2: Language B (Language Acquisition)
The third group: individuals and sociology (history, geography, economics, philosophy, psychology, etc. )
The fourth group: experimental science (physics, chemistry, biology, environmental systems, etc. )
The fifth group: mathematics (advanced mathematics level, advanced mathematics standard level, mathematical research, mathematical methods, etc. )
The sixth group: art and elective courses (art design, music, drama art, etc. )
In fact, if the IB-DP student is unwilling to choose the sixth subject group, he can also learn the third modern language, or choose another subject from the third and fourth groups, or the advanced mathematics standard level. In addition, students can choose two courses in language A instead of language B, and they will get a bilingual certificate when they graduate.
On the basis of these six courses, students in IB diploma stage must learn TOK (epistemology-epistemology) and EE (extended thesis-extended thesis), and have qualified CAS activities (creativity, activity and service-creation, activity and service). These three items are the core courses of the whole IB-DP project.
Knowledge theory:
This course systematizes the whole knowledge system by examining the knowledge learned from different angles, combining different knowledge fields (oraok) and cognitive styles (or WOK), and urges students to think critically about the knowledge learned.
Expand the topic:
This is a paper based on six themes. Students need to complete a paper of nearly 4000 words (4800 words in Chinese) in about one year. This paper is about an IB subject group course. Students should reflect their research on a certain aspect of the subject in their papers, which has academic value and conforms to the writing format of academic papers.
China Academy of Sciences:
CAS activity is a form of extracurricular activities, which aims to encourage students to integrate into society and realize the training goal of IB.
assessment system
Six subject group courses, each with a perfect score of 7 points. The final grade of each subject is divided into two parts: internal test and external test.
Internal testing accounts for about 20% of the final grade, and the form varies according to specific subjects. For example, the internal measurement form of physics and chemistry is an experimental report designed by students independently, while the internal measurement form of economy is three news analysis of current affairs related to microeconomics, macroeconomics, development economics/international economics respectively. The internal test scores are evaluated by teachers in our school, and IBO randomly selects samples from various schools to score, so as to adjust the total internal test scores of this subject in our school.
The external examination accounts for about 80% of the final grade, which is in the form of examination paper and based on the difficulty of the courses selected by the students. The external examination time for IB schools in the northern hemisphere is May, and it is 1 1 month in the southern hemisphere. In order to avoid cheating caused by jet lag, IBO will evaluate several papers with the same difficulty but different topics in different time zones.
TOK and EE have five grades: A, B, C, D, E and F respectively, and the final reward score of * * * is 3 out of 100. See below for details: abcdea3321failb3210failC2100failmail1000failfeilfailmail, so IB finally scored 45 points. Generally speaking, this level is distributed in the northern hemisphere in early July. For students who want to apply for universities, because some countries apply very early, the school will give a formal forecast score strictly according to the students' usual grades, so that students can apply for various universities. Most students apply in the first half of senior three, and they will receive the admission notice from the school in the second half of senior three. Most of these admissions are conditional, such as requiring students to have a final total score of not less than 38, or a score of 7 in one or two subjects. The courses at this stage are closely related to students' future career development.
