If there is a requirement to say how many digits after the decimal point are accurate, it must be calculated. If there is no requirement, there seems to be no mandatory requirement. It depends. If it is a pure math problem, it doesn't seem to matter much if you don't participate in the calculation. If it is an engineering application, the final result should be worked out (don't participate in the middle).
