When we approached Cambridge, the feeling of "now, approaching my village and meeting people" rose inexplicably in my heart. Over the years, there have been countless pictures of weaving and sketching in my mind, and suddenly appeared in front of me. On both sides of the road are rows of lush trees and lilac cherry blossoms, and churches, colleges, shops and houses with domes and spires crisscross the street; Turquoise grass almost covers the open space except the street. Pink roses, goose yellow raindrops, and some unknown colorful flowers [roses] are made into various shapes, such as flower baskets, waterfalls, birds and animals ... Some are hung on the roadside, some are nestled in front of shops, and some are clustered on their balconies ... There are colorful "flower world" everywhere, which is really "the spring breeze is proud of horseshoe disease"
Wandering in the bustling and fragrant city of Cambridge is an extraordinary enjoyment.
Cambridge is the capital of Cambridgeshire, England, and the seat of the famous university Cambridge, which is less than100km from London. A river runs through the city. This river was named "Jianhe" and also translated as "He Kang". He Kang drew a big arc circle in the urban area, and gurgled to the northeast to join the Sihe River.
As early as more than two thousand years ago, the Romans camped and stationed troops here. In the long years to come, Cambridge was just a country town. It was not until 1209 that Cambridge University was founded that this town gradually became known to the world.
Later, people built bridges over the He Kang River. These bridges have experienced vicissitudes, exquisite design and unique shape, which greatly facilitate citizens, students and tourists. In fact, every bridge here contains touching historical stories and carries the glory and dreams of Cambridge people.
I first learned about Cambridge in the modern literature class at the university. I read two poems written by Xu Zhimo, Farewell to Cambridge and Farewell to Cambridge. In the poem, the author's love, sadness, longing, melancholy and sincere beauty jumped from the paper and deeply touched my young heart. Up to now, every time I recite it, my heart is always full of ups and downs, and tears are in my eyes.
At dusk, the sunset melts into gold. The quiet He Kanghe became noisy because of our arrival.
Boating on the He Kang River is the favorite of every traveler who has just arrived in Cambridge. Dozens of ships with square heads and flat bottoms lined up on the dock, ready to go. Three British youths wearing black and white striped T-shirts enthusiastically guided American tourists from Xu Zhimo's hometown aboard. Holding long poles and supporting boats, they loudly introduced the cultural history of He Kang and the story of Cambridge to us in pure English. The boat is sailing slowly in the middle and lower reaches of the Hekang River. The river is relatively wide and gentle, and there are gorgeous buildings on the campuses of various colleges of Cambridge University on both sides. Looking from a distance, the school buildings and churches complement each other, and the red brick buildings shaded by green vines and green leaves are hidden in the green; Several black swans swayed slowly on the soft grass, completely ignoring the noisy tourists.
In the sunset, weeping willows on the river bank brushed my hair from time to time, and I suddenly remembered the words of Zhimo, "The golden willows on the river bank are the brides in the sunset, and the beautiful shadows are rippling in my heart ...".
The bridge over the He Kang River, in my opinion, can only be regarded as a small bridge, because He Kanghe is also a small river with a width of only ten or twenty meters. It is these small bridges with exquisite conception and different shapes that greet many dusk and dawn day and night, attracting countless tourists to come.
On the He Kang River, the most famous ones should be the Mathematics Bridge at Queen's College, the King's Bridge and the Sigh Bridge at St. John's College. Swim back to the greener grass with a long pole. With the help of the long pole, the ship gradually rose rapidly. Soon, a small wooden bridge with geometric patterns came into view. This is the Math Bridge, which connects Queens College. It is said that it was designed by Mr. Newton, but in fact the bridge was built in 1749, when Newton had been dead for more than 20 years. When the Mathematical Bridge was completed, the whole bridge did not need a nail, but the bridge was extremely strong. In Victorian times, there was a curious student who wanted to explore the mystery of the bridge after taking it apart. Unfortunately, he couldn't recover, so he finally had to use nails to show the high standard when building the bridge. Cambridge University leads the world in mathematical research. No wonder Cambridge people who love mathematics like to spend a lot of time on this small bridge.
"Xu Zhimo" The young English boatman suddenly shouted in blunt Chinese. It turns out that the bridge at King's College has arrived. Xu Zhimo has an indissoluble bond with King's College. His name was known to Cambridge people as early as last century. 192 1 year, Xu Zhimo met the English writer Dickinson through Lin's father. On Dickinson's recommendation, Xu Zhimo entered King's College of Cambridge University as a special student. He received bourgeois aristocratic education in Cambridge, extensively dabbled in world famous works and worshipped English poets Shelley and Byron. He is attached to life in Cambridge, and he is very excited. He wrote many poems. In his poem "Goodbye to Cambridge", he wrote: "The turbulent wave of spiritual revolution washes the banks of your charming river ...".
1In August, 928, Xu Zhimo came to Cambridge for the third time. Three months later, when he was about to return to China, he wrote the classic Farewell to Cambridge in the back garden of King's College. In July 2008, in order to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Xu Zhimo's farewell to Cambridge, Cambridge University set up a white marble monument in the west of the back garden of King's College. This square meter of marble was shipped from Beijing. It is engraved with the words: "I walk gently, just as I come gently"; I waved my sleeve and didn't take away a cloud. These are the two most famous sentences in the poem Farewell to Cambridge. This is the highest courtesy given to Mr. Xu Zhimo by Cambridge University, and this stone tablet will also become a symbol of the beautiful friendship between the Chinese and British peoples.
The most interesting thing is the bridge of sighs. There are three bridges of sighs in the world, and I have the honor to see them. The Bridge of Sighs in Venice is the most famous. It is said that as soon as the prisoner is sentenced, the recidivist is put into prison and may die from now on. Therefore, when they crossed this impenetrable bridge, they couldn't help sighing deeply. Oxford University also has a bridge of sighs connecting Hartford College. Because it looks like the bridge of sighs in Venice, it is also called the bridge of sighs. The bridge of St. John's College is also known as the "Frustrated Bridge". Established in 183 1 year. In the past, college students often came to the bridge to sigh, shed tears and even committed suicide by jumping into the river. At the same time, some people who were frustrated in love also came to the bridge and lamented the difficulty of love. Sometimes, people who can't figure it out will jump into the river ... There are many legends about the Bridge of Sighs. Later, in order to prevent accidents, St. John's College decided to enclose the bridge with iron railings, which formed this approximate covered bridge.
Take a long breath to hide your tears and lament the hardships of people's lives. In fact, life is not hard, there are too many things to sigh, to be sad, to be sad. However, we don't have time to calm down, put down our sighs, dry our tears and sing along. As Mr. Shima said in his poem, "A ship full of splendor sings in the splendor ...".
Today, there are more than 20 bridges on the He Kang River. Although each bridge has its own name, it is called "Cambridge". Now, there are more than 400 boats rowing on the He Kang River every day, and world tourists with different skin colors and languages are welcomed by the stars. These bridges have witnessed the rapid development of the world and the progress of human civilization.
After several years with He Kang, Mr. Xu Zhimo once lamented: "The spirituality of Cambridge is all in a river"; However, I think He Kang's spirituality should belong to Cambridge, which is full of profound historical civilization accumulation.
The afterglow of the sunset quietly covers the He Kang River, and the green grass on the soft mud is swaying underwater. .......
Goodbye, Cambridge!
