The traditional characteristic facades along the street in Kuanzhai Lane are basically well preserved, among which the courtyard gate is the most abundant. The door of every household presents different styles, different materials, different orientations and different scales, including house-style and Shikumen.
Coupled with the window grilles made of black and gray walls and small blue tiles, the theme of the whole street presents the characteristics of the Qing Dynasty. As the skin of space, architecture is the external expression of the sense of space history. Through the strengthening of these physical interfaces, historical blocks can reshape the time thickness of space.
After the transformation, the overall spatial style of Kuanzhai Lane is relatively complete, which continues the style of western Sichuan folk houses in the Qing Dynasty. The street belongs to the northern hutong street in shape, and its main characteristics are as follows: "fishbone" road pattern. This model is conducive to the spontaneous energy management of street residents and lays the foundation for a quiet and leisurely life.
Kuanzhai Lane gradually merged with western Sichuan folk houses from barracks and dormitories, and the courtyard form with western Sichuan style in folk houses was basically preserved. Window sashes, sparrows and other architectural components carefully reproduce the charm of life in old Chengdu.
