The awards established by TWAS mainly include: five basic science awards (mathematics award, physics award, chemistry award, biology award and basic medicine award); Two applied science awards (namely, "the Third World Science Organization Network (Science Network) Agricultural Award" and "Science Network Technology Award"); TWAS Lecture Award and abdul sallam Science and Technology Award have been added to 1995 to reward scholars from developing countries for their achievements in scientific research. The above awards are selected once a year, and the winner can get a medal (indicating the main contribution of the winner) and a bonus of 1 10,000 US dollars (except the speech award). By the end of 2002 10, there were 17 scholars and 2 scientific research institutions in China who won TWAS/TWNSO awards.
