Nanjing University, referred to as "Nanda", is located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. The school was founded in Sanjiang Normal School on 1902, and was renamed Nanjing University on 1950 after Liangjiang Normal School, Nanjing Higher Normal School, National Southeast University and National Central University.
1952 merged with College of Arts and Sciences of Jinling University, still named Nanjing University. The school site was moved from Sipailou to the original site of Jinling University in Gulou. In 2006, the Ministry of Education and Jiangsu Province signed an agreement on key construction of Nanjing University.
