What is the trend of power grid?
Power flow is the stable distribution of voltage (node) and power (active power and reactive power) (branch) in power system.

Power flow distribution must be known by operation dispatching units and maintenance departments.

Power flow calculation refers to the given initial value, known value and unknown value of some parameters in the power grid, and the accurate value of power flow distribution is finally obtained through repeated iteration. The commonly used methods are Newton-Raphson method and PQ decomposition method.

Power flow calculation also provides initial operation mode for stability calculation and short-circuit current calculation, and is the most basic calculation of power system. Power flow calculation of complex power system must be completed with the help of calculation tools. The AC computing platform, which appeared in 1930s, was once an effective tool for power flow calculation. Since 1950s, with the development of digital computer application and the progress of digital solution and calculation program for solving power flow problems in power system, digital computer has replaced AC computing platform and become the main tool for solving power flow problems.

In addition to a large number of off-line power flow calculations using digital computers in power system planning and operation, on-line power flow calculations using real-time data in power system operation monitoring have also entered the practical stage.
