Do soldiers and civilians take math exams?
Military and civilian personnel need to take a math exam.

Military and civil mathematics can be divided into Math 1 and Math 2, Math 1 to test advanced mathematics (function, limit, continuity, calculus of one-variable functions, ordinary differential equations), linear algebra (determinant, matrix, vector, linear equations, eigenvalues and eigenvectors of matrices), probability theory and mathematical statistics; Mathematics 2 takes advanced mathematics and linear algebra.

The contents of the two exams are as follows:

Mathematics 1:

1. Advanced Mathematics (function calculus, limit, continuity, unary function, vector algebra and spatial analytic geometry, multivariate function calculus, infinite series, ordinary differential equations)

2. Linear algebra (determinant, matrix, vector, linear equations, eigenvalue and eigenvector of matrix, quadratic form).

3. Probability theory and mathematical statistics (random events and probability, random variables and their probability distribution, numerical characteristics of two-dimensional random variables and their probability distribution, law of large numbers and central limit theorem, basic concepts of mathematical statistics, parameter estimation and hypothesis testing).

Math 2:

1. Advanced mathematics (function, limit, continuity, calculus of one variable function, ordinary differential equation).

2. Linear algebra (determinant, matrix, vector, linear equations, eigenvalue and eigenvector of matrix).

Can I be transferred to active service after joining the army?

After joining the army, civilian personnel mainly engage in management and professional and technical work, and do not need to directly participate in combat. Although civilian personnel are also an important part of military personnel, they are not active military personnel and their job responsibilities are obviously different from those of active military personnel.

There is a clear system that conscription units can directly appoint active servicemen as civilian personnel after passing the examination, but there is no clear regulation on whether military civilian personnel can be converted into active servicemen.

However, civilian personnel are also one of the supplementary sources of professional and technical personnel. If your performance is particularly excellent and your unit just needs it, your unit can apply to the higher authorities and be transferred to active service after approval. At present, the civil service is still developing, and all aspects of the system are constantly improving. If you apply for conversion from military to civilian in order to transfer to active service, it is suggested that you can consult the recruiting unit in advance.
