Seminar on Maritime Education and Training in Maritime College of Dalian Maritime University
A seminar on maritime education and training sponsored by Dalian Maritime University was held in Dalian today. More than 300 people attended the meeting, including the Department of Personnel and Education of the Ministry of Transport, the Maritime Bureau of the Ministry of Transport and its directly affiliated maritime bureaus, maritime colleges and some shipping enterprises. The purpose of this meeting is to brainstorm, gather the latest achievements of maritime education research, share the insights of maritime education experts, and explore the reform and development ideas of maritime education.

Zheng Heping, Deputy Director of Maritime Bureau of Ministry of Transport, and Sun Yuqing, President of Dalian Maritime University delivered speeches. Zheng Heping said that at present, the training of maritime talents is facing new opportunities and challenges. With the proposal of China's "Belt and Road" strategy and the construction of the Maritime Silk Road in the 2 1 century, the confidence in the recovery of the shipping industry and even the development of the national economy has increased. At the same time, facing the new situation changes at home and abroad, higher requirements are put forward for the training of maritime talents. As a crew management organization, the Maritime Safety Administration will gradually improve and standardize China's crew training principles and policies in close combination with international laws and regulations, so as to ensure the training of professionals who meet domestic and international standards and needs.

This seminar is open to national maritime colleges and enterprises, and 5 papers have been submitted11. At the meeting, scholars and experts attending the meeting had special exchanges and discussions on "One Belt, One Road" strategy and maritime education legislation in China, challenges and opportunities faced by China's crew training, training of maritime technical professionals under the background of the implementation of Manila Amendment to STCW Convention, teaching reform of maritime majors, and training mode of marine engineering talents based on "five abilities" and four system requirements.

It is reported that the maritime education and training seminar of Dalian Maritime University is the first large-scale maritime talent training seminar held in China, and an international seminar will be held next year. Through meetings and exchanges, the research on major theoretical issues, frontier hot issues and key issues that need to be solved urgently in the practice of maritime education is widely carried out in the national maritime education circle, which provides intellectual support for the training of maritime professionals and promotes the prosperity and development of maritime education research in China.
