What is the shortage of nutritionists in China?
Shanghai: There are tens of thousands of nutritionists.

Shanghai Nutrition Society recently launched the first qualification training course of nutrition catering in Shanghai, and the registration was unexpectedly popular. There is a serious shortage of professional nutritionists in Shanghai, and there are almost no public nutrition experts in China. According to the Food Department of the Health Supervision Institute of Shanghai Municipal Health Bureau, according to the current regulations, manufacturers of nutritious lunch boxes for students must be equipped with a nutritionist, but most of these nutritionists who are responsible for preparing recipes are "part-time" hospital nutritionists. It is reported that a foreign catering company in Shanghai has a full-time nutritionist. Because the relevant departments suggest that all kinds of schools that provide "group meals" should achieve a balanced diet, some schools with better conditions now employ retired dietitians to "play the residual heat".

According to the data of Shanghai Clinical Nutrition Quality Control Center, there are only more than 300 nutritionists at all levels who have passed the nutrition professional and technical qualification examination in Shanghai. Most of them are distributed in hospitals and other institutions to serve special people, and few are for the general public. Chen, director of the center, said: the focus of foreign nutritionists is public nutrition, and medical nutrition is only one of them.

China is short of nutritionists.

So far, there are no laws and regulations on dietitians in China, which is the main factor that hinders the development of dietitian industry in the eyes of the industry.

Food is abundant, life is beautiful, and the body is getting fatter and fatter. The doctor suggested that it was time to pay attention to reasonable diet and nutrition, but at this time, people in China found it difficult to find a nutritionist.

According to the statistics of the Ministry of Health of China, there are only nearly 4,000 nutritionists in China. Except for some big hospitals, there are no nutritionists in the canteens of other factories and mines, as well as in the canteens of schools and institutions.

China Nutrition Society conducted a survey in 2002, and the results showed that only 47% of the 403 hospitals interviewed in China had nutrition departments, and more than half of them had no nutrition departments, let alone nutritionists.
