According to reports, through the systematic training and communication between China Automotive Research Institute and the participating teams, all the participating teams have made full preparations for the competition, rubbing their hands one after another, showing their confidence in achieving good results.
As 2020? The new event of i-VISTA Challenge "Virtual Simulation Challenge" is aimed at L4 advanced autonomous driving. The simulation scenes include park autopilot and highway high-grade autopilot. The park environment simulates Lijia Park of China Automotive Research Institute, and sets up 15 test scenario. The Beijing section of Yanchong Expressway was simulated in the expressway environment, and 29 test scenarios were set up.
If introduced in visual language, this virtual simulation challenge is to simulate the real road scene and move it into the competition program. The performance data of the participating vehicles adopt the complete set of data developed by each participating team, and the competition results are output after computer testing to ensure the objectivity and fairness of the results. Through this simulation test, the automatic driving performance of the vehicle in reality can be restored to the greatest extent, which is somewhat similar to the racing game that everyone contacts.
It is worth mentioning that using virtual simulation to test vehicles has many advantages, such as saving R&D cost, shortening R&D cycle and enhancing R&D strength of vehicle enterprises. Therefore, the "Virtual Simulation Challenge" organized by China Automobile Research Institute is of great practical significance for the participating units to find out the shortcomings in time and continuously improve the autonomous driving technology.
The results of the virtual simulation preliminaries will be announced on August 25th, and the five advanced teams will go to participate in the official competition of "2020i-VISTA Autopilot Challenge" on September 12.
