Zhong Wanxie's Personality Report
Zhong Wanxie was born in such a scholarly family. 1934 was born in Shanghai on February 24th, and received a good education since childhood. His father, Zhong Zhaolin, was a model of integrity and patriotism all his life, which had a far-reaching impact on Zhong Wanxie's life. When Zhong Wanxie was studying in Shanghai Nanyang Model Primary School, his father ordered Science Pictorial for him, which aroused his strong desire to explore the mysteries of nature from an early age.

1952- 1956, Zhong Wanxie studied bridge and tunnel engineering in Tongji University and studied very hard. I found him in the university library and lawn in the morning, holding a book tirelessly. The students are all called Zhong Wanxie bookworm, and he also taught himself many extracurricular books, with a wide range of knowledge. Zhong Wanxie has a precious bookmark with Marx's famous words printed on it: "There is no royal road to science, and only those who are not afraid to climb along steep mountain roads can hope to reach the glorious summit." On the back of the bookmark is his understanding of this famous saying. This precious bookmark was later given to his classmate Yang, who connected him with Yang like the red silk thread of the old man under the moon and became like-minded lifelong companions. Later, it was transferred from Yang Xuenian to his younger brother Yang Zaishi. Now, this inspiring bookmark has been returned to Zhong Wanxie's son, Zhong Xiangxiang.

In his early years, the author participated in the compilation of the newly compiled Deqing County Records, and went to the former residence of Zhong family in Xincheng for a field trip and visited relatives and neighbors of Zhong family. In the future, I also had correspondence with Professor Zhong Wanxie, and sincerely admired his lofty spirit, selfless dedication and personality charm, as well as his great scientific achievements.

Zhong Wanxie grew up in a family and school background. With his intelligence, hard study and understanding of scientific knowledge, his talent quickly attracted the attention of teachers and classmates. When he was in college, Zhong Wanxie wrote two insightful academic papers. Among them, Contact in Elastic Mechanics was recommended by President Brandon Lee to 1956, the first inaugural meeting of the National Mechanics Society, which attracted the attention of domestic mechanics experts. After graduation, Zhong Wanxie successfully entered the Institute of Mechanics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, engaged in the research of solid mechanics, fluid mechanics and variational principles. In the first mechanical academic training class in China, he became the assistant of Qian Weichang, a famous mechanic in China. At that time, he was 23.

However, in China, where political movements continue, we often encounter some accidents. 1957, Zhong Wanxie was forced to quit the league and was sent to work in the suburbs because he said that he didn't see that Qian Weichang was a rightist. Even his fiancee Yang, who is far away in Shanghai, has been implicated. In order to check Zhong Wanxie's letters to her, she was forced to hand over all the letters Zhong Wanxie gave her, but to the surprise of the inspectors, there were not only "anti-Party" in the letters.

From 65438 to 0959, Zhong Wanxie was instructed by Qian Xuesen to teach theoretical mechanics (including gyro theory and nonlinear vibration) in the Department of Mechanics of China University of Science and Technology. At that time, he taught himself a lot of classic works on theoretical physics. Even on the way to work, or when waiting in line in the canteen, he often lingers on books and wanders in a wonderful world composed of a large number of abstract mathematical symbols. Long-term hard study has enabled Zhong Wanxie to do creative research in the scientific field with ease.
