Zhang Yuzhen is one of the two national jade carving masters awarded by the National Gemstone Association, and the only one in Liaoning Province who has won this honor. Zhang Yuzhen used to be the deputy commander-in-chief and technical director of design and sculpture of Anshan Jade Buddha Garden, the world's largest jade Buddha. More than 70 of her works have been awarded excellent prizes by the Provincial Department of Light Industry, the National Gemstone Association and the Ministry of Light Industry. More than 50 pieces have won the National Tiangong Award, Hundred Flowers Award Appraisal Gold Award, Silver Award, Bronze Award, Finalist Award, Excellence Award and International Expo Gold Award. In 2003, she won seven awards in the National Excellence Award, setting a record of winning one prize at a time. Zhang Yuzhen's jade carving "Stand upright" won the special prize of "Five One Projects" of Anshan Municipal Committee and Municipal Government in 2005. This is the first time that Xiuyu products have won government awards. Zhang Yuzhen was successively rated as "Women's Model", "March 8th Red Flag Bearer", "Local Excellent Talent" and "Academic and Technical Leader" by Anshan City. She has a good social reputation and was elected as the vice president of Liaoning Gemstone Association, honorary president of Anshan Folk Arts and Crafts Association and vice president of Anshan Gemstone Association. She has made outstanding contributions to the sustainable development of xiuyan jade's industry, broadening women's employment space and income-increasing channels, training women to improve jade carving technology, driving women onto the road of prosperity and promoting xiuyan jade culture.

Zhang Yuzhen, a peasant woman, loved the jade carving industry since she was a child. At 1958- 196 1, she went to Beijing arts and crafts school to study jade carving theory, design and sculpture. In the county jade factory, she was responsible for organizing the design and carving of "Huaxia Lingguang Tower Xun", which won the National Gold Cup Award and was collected by the state. 1985 to 1994, she was successively rated as an excellent inspector, an excellent worker of jade carving arts and crafts and an excellent model of arts and crafts by the Provincial Department of Light Industry and the Ministry of National Light Industry, and was hired as a "Hundred Flowers Award" judge by the state. 1998, she founded Xiuyan Yu Man Sculpture Factory, and directly led more than 100 women to engage in jade processing, which played a leading role in demonstrating women's participation in Xiuyan jade stone industry and led women in the county to embark on a series of 100,000 jade girl projects of "creating benefits with jade and getting rich by jade".
