Saxophone has only a history of more than 100 years since its birth, which is different from ordinary musical instruments. Saxophone was designed and invented by Adlof Saxophone, a Belgian brass and woodwind instrument manufacturer, in about 1840.
At that time, Adlof saxophone wanted to make a musical instrument with both timbre characteristics of copper pipe and woodwind, so it installed a single-spring mouthpiece of woodwind on a round copper pipe and then improved it, so saxophone was born, and saxophone was defined as a kind of woodwind.
1846, Adlof saxophone obtained the patent right to manufacture saxophone in Paris, and the saxophone was listed as a formal military instrument in the following year. However, saxophone was born too late, catching up with the times of many great classical musicians, so there were not many music specially used for saxophone performance, and therefore saxophone's position at that time was far inferior to other musical instruments.
Later, with the popularity of jazz in the United States and Europe, many fat Waller players such as Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Dexter Gordon, Sonny Rollins, ben Webster and Lester Young played saxophone.
Therefore, saxophone shines brilliantly, masters have created many different playing techniques and styles, and saxophone has gradually gained popularity and attention. Therefore, it can be said that the combination of saxophone is closely related to the development of jazz. At present, saxophone is most commonly used in jazz, jazz bands and pop music, but it is still less used in classical music.
