Employment guidance for college students: the correct way of attribution
Many college students blame the world financial crisis for their employment difficulties-they are pessimistic, disappointed and confused about their employment prospects. Therefore, in employment guidance, we teachers should give correct guidance to students, and the most convincing theory in the guidance process should be attribution theory.

Attribution theory

Attribution refers to the process that people explain or speculate on the causes of others or their own actions or results. On the basis of Hyde's attribution theory and Atkinson's achievement motivation theory, American psychologist Weiner put forward an influential "three-dimensional and four-factor theory", that is, the attribution theory of success or failure.

Wiener analysis identified three dimensions of attribution, namely, the cause source dimension, the stability dimension and the controllability dimension. The reason for people's activities, that is, behavioral responsibility, mainly comes down to four factors, that is, ability, hard work, task difficulty and good luck.

Correct attribution method

According to the attribution theory, people's attribution can be divided into four situations: (1) uncontrollable factors of internal stability, such as ability. (2) controllable factors of internal instability, such as the degree of effort. (3) uncontrollable factors of external stability, such as task difficulty. (4) uncontrollable factors of external instability, such as good or bad luck. We should cultivate students' correct attribution style.

College students employment guidance

In teaching, we find that a series of psychological conflicts and emotional expressions that may appear in the process of college students' job selection are largely caused by the lack of correct attribution, so we should cultivate students' correct attribution methods.
