Liu Hongtian, the owner of Zhai, was born in Qixia, Shandong Province, 1947 in May. At the age of five, he began to study law with Mr. Shu in his village, and later graduated from Beijing Normal University with a major in calligraphy. He studied under Mr. Ouyang Zhongshi and Mr. Sun Qifeng, members of China Calligraphy Association, members of the Creation Committee of China Calligraphy Association, professors of the Calligraphy Training Center of China Calligraphy Association, directors of Shandong Calligraphy Association and honorary presidents of Yantai Calligraphy Association.
