Panlong District of Kunming includes Southwest Forestry University, Yunnan Agricultural University, Yunnan Vocational College of Science and Technology Information, Yunnan Vocational College of Electromechanical Technology, Yunnan Vocational College of Forestry and Yunnan Vocational College of Water Conservancy and Hydropower.

Southwest Forestry University, located in Kunming, Yunnan Province, is the only independent forestry undergraduate college in western China with forestry as the main subject, ecological environment as the feature, and science, engineering, agriculture, literature, law and art as the coordinated development. It is a first-class discipline construction university in Yunnan Province and was selected into the national education and training plan for outstanding talents in agriculture and forestry. It is also a supporting institution for the education and training plan of outstanding engineers and the basic capacity building project of colleges and universities in the central and western regions.

Yunnan Agricultural University, referred to as "Yunnan Agricultural University", is located in the Spring City-Kunming, Yunnan Province. It is a key university in Yunnan Province, and was selected into the national education and training plan for outstanding agricultural and forestry talents and the education and training plan for outstanding engineers. It is the second batch of demonstration universities in China to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, the national universities with typical experience in innovation and entrepreneurship, the national "20 1 1 Plan" construction unit, and the institutions that receive scholarships from the China Municipal Government for overseas students, and have the qualification of exemption for postgraduate students.
