Emergency hemostasis

When encountering an emergency wound, the first thing to do is to stop bleeding. Press the bleeding area tightly with a clean cloth or handkerchief 15-20 minutes. For shallow wounds, this step can effectively control the blood flow because there are many tiny veins.

Wound cleaning

Cleaning the wound is the key to prevent infection. Wash the wound with normal saline or cold boiled water, and apply antibiotics, ointment or disinfectant if possible. Remember, toothpaste, grass leaves, soy sauce, ointment and other items may cause infection and should not be used.

Take measures to prevent infection

The last step is to get dressed. Gently covering the wound with gauze can not only play a protective role, but also absorb exudate to prevent the dirt from contacting the wound and causing secondary infection.
