Types of study visas in Germany
There are two kinds of study visas:
Visum zum Studium visa, issued to applicants who have received the final admission notice.
Visumzum studentvorbereitenden Sprachkurs is associated with university study, and it is issued to those applicants who have obtained the conditional admission notice (pre-admission notice) of German universities or have contacted universities, and has been initially recognized. After obtaining this visa, they can go to German classes and pass the language proficiency test (DSH, TestDaF or Goethe C2: GDS) connected with the language classes, and then they can register directly in German universities.
Usually, German embassies and consulates will issue visas valid for 3 or 6 months, and you need to report to the Aliens Administration as soon as possible after entering the country, where you can obtain a valid residence permit.
Students who simply go to Germany to study languages do not belong to the category of higher education. For details, please consult the embassy or consulate of the applicant's jurisdiction or the Goethe Institute.
The specific time to apply for a study visa in Germany
Generally speaking, it takes five weeks to apply for a visa. From receiving the admission notice from the university to applying for a passport, it must be carried out in advance. Before applying for a visa, I suggest you read the registration time of the admission notice carefully. We should start submitting applications more than five weeks before the registration time, and we should also prepare the materials in advance. If you get a temporary notice, you must prepare all the procedures before applying for studying abroad, so that the procedures are complete and the approval will be faster.
