What do the four letters of management theory and evaluation used by Fortune 500 companies stand for respectively?

DISC is a universal "human behavior language", which is widely used in interpersonal relationships. Its theoretical basis is the book The Emotion of Ordinary People published by Dr William Moreton maston, a famous American psychologist, in 1928.

Today, the alphabet is often used in enterprise management, and the person who created it should be remembered.

Back in the 1920s, in an ordinary classroom, Dr. meston thought hard. When he studied human emotions, his brain was wide open and he put forward an amazing hypothesis: in the face of favorable or unfavorable environment, when external stimuli are processed by brain thinking, people's cognition of stimuli may produce two basic emotional reactions-fight or flight. The former is an active attack under unfavorable environment, and the latter is a passive self-protection under unfavorable environment. The initial prototype of DISC came into being quietly.

Battle = d in = CD.

D stands for superiority and dominant emotion. When the challenge comes, D's emotions signal that there is nothing to be afraid of, and the soldiers will block it, and the more you fight, the more brave you are.

Escape = c in =DISC。

C stands for obedience and obedience. When the challenge comes, C's emotions signal that he can't compete with the challenge, stick to the rules, keep quiet and retreat.

At the same time, two other basic responses to stimuli have emerged: communication or acceptance. The former is active attack under favorable environment, and the latter is passive self-protection under favorable environment.

Communication = ii in = disc.

Stands for induced, induced emotion. When the challenge comes, I send a signal that I have the ability to reach an agreement. Instead of confrontation, it is better to negotiate and start negotiations.

Accept = s in =DISC.

S stands for submission, a submissive emotion. When the challenge comes, the signal sent by S's emotions is: obedient, not noisy, accepting it frankly, and taking harmony as the most important thing.

Is it like being invaded by foreign enemies many times in history? The wolf smoke rises, people panic, and the court is in an uproar! Everyone has his own opinion and "the first reaction based on emotion".

Some people say that "killing the past to take the enemy's head", a fearless spirit, is it very similar to D;

Some people say "it's better to send peace talks", but they also have answers. Isn't it like me?

Some people say that "one's luck runs out" is a way to avoid the loss of life, isn't it like S;

Some people say that "retreating south" seems to have other plans. Does it look like C?

Who is right and who is wrong, let history judge, the emotional reaction now is too real!

As the title of "Ordinary People's Emotions" shows, Dr. meston's research direction not only digs into the underlying emotions of human beings, but also differs from the abnormal behaviors of human beings concerned by Freud and Jung. He studies the normal emotional response and behavior of human beings from the inside out.

"Ordinary People's Emotions" describes in detail four kinds of people (that is, the disk, although it was not called that at that time). meston observed people's behavior from two coordinate axes.

The vertical axis is the cognition of self: strong (active) or weak (passive).

The horizontal axis is the cognition of the environment: friendly (favorable environment) or hostile (unfavorable environment).

The intersection of the two axes produces four quadrants, which looks more convenient.

Active "fighting" based on unfavorable environment;

Active "communication" based on favorable environment;

Passive "acceptance" based on favorable environment;

Passive "escape" based on unfavorable environment.

Such great scientific research makes people really understand their true performance and inevitable "instinctive reaction" when they get along with the environment.

Later psychologists and management scientists further developed this theory into evaluation, that is, the well-known "disc behavior style evaluation" that everyone in the world can learn and actively use.

On the other hand, Dr. maston summed up four normal emotions, which laid a solid foundation for the future study of DISC. With the development of the times, in order to make it easier for everyone to understand and communicate, the keywords of DISC have also undergone subtle changes, as follows:

Dominance, dominance, play the role of "commander" in the team.

Influential, influential, play the role of "social worker" in the team.

Steady, steady, and play the role of "supporter" in the team.

Obedient, submissive, and play a "thinker" in the team.

Considering the Chinese habits of Chinese people and referring to the current popular titles, the professional version can use "Xing" and the popular version can use "Zhe".

Deciphering the CD is a very interesting and meaningful thing.

CDs are used for business management and personal life. Through training or evaluation, four letters have become a coup of personality analysis. Some people use them to manage teams, some people use them to develop talents, some people use them to recruit materials, some people use them to precipitate customers, some people use them to improve themselves, and some people use them to get to know each other. In short, it is a tool to quickly identify people and a basis for analysis and reference. Very good!

For this reason, I specially wrote the book Understanding: CD-ROM that affects your life. There are many chapters, including understanding CD-ROM, yourself, your boss, your subordinates, your team, your customers, your parents, your partner, your children and your life.

Left-handed workplace, right-handed family, when we know DISC, we know a better life.

Regarding DISC, you can leave me a message, comment or private letter if you have any questions. I am Yu Liang, trainer and author of CD-ROM books. Here is a small column. Welcome attention.
