Hunan university of science and engineering, referred to as "Hunan Academy of Sciences" for short, is a full-time undergraduate college with eight disciplines, namely science, engineering, literature, law, economics, management, teaching and art, approved by the Ministry of Education. It is a comprehensive application-oriented undergraduate college, praised by the industry as "the banner of national normal education reform" and selected as the first batch of "New Engineering Research and Practice" projects of the Ministry of Education.

The school now has 14 teaching colleges and 50 undergraduate majors, covering eight disciplines such as economy, law, education, literature, science, engineering, management and art, and enrolls students from 28 provinces (cities, districts) across the country, with more than 6000 undergraduates/kloc-0.
