The School of Social Development of Sanya College of Hainan University was established in 2005, led by Professor Shen, a member of the Sociology Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education and a disciple of the famous scholar Fei Xiaotong. Now, under the leadership of Vice President Xia Xueluan, a researcher and famous scholar of China Social Development Research Center, with the strong support of the school and the joint efforts of all the teaching staff, the School of Social Development has gradually grown with the development of the school. There are 24 faculty members, including 20 professional teachers, 2 professors and doctoral supervisors, 3 associate high school students, 4 doctors, American double masters 1, masters 18 and undergraduates 1. Initially formed a reasonable echelon of teachers with academic qualifications, professional titles and age structure. The faculty and staff of the college come from Chinese mainland, Hongkong, Taiwan Province Province and the United States, and many teachers have rich experience. They often invite well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad to visit and give lectures, and employ a group of well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad as distinguished professor and part-time professors. They have a strong academic exchange atmosphere. Nourished by the discussion culture and sunshine culture, the exchange and interaction between Chinese and foreign thoughts and cultures will promote the Social Development College to truly become an important base for cultivating Hainan's social development think tanks.

The college has four undergraduate majors: sociology, social work, applied psychology and urban planning. There are many famous sociologists. In 2009, Dean Shen was awarded the honorary title of "Famous Teaching Teacher in Hainan Province", the sociology team was awarded the "Excellent Teaching Team in Hainan Province", and the famous sociologists Guma and Cao Jinqing were named distinguished professor. Famous teachers have stepped onto the front line of teaching, making the teaching level of professional courses such as introduction to sociology reach the first-class level in China. Social work and applied psychology have shown their professional strength in Sichuan's post-disaster reconstruction, and their social needs are increasingly obvious. The school healthy personality studio is mainly composed of teachers majoring in applied psychology, which plays an important role in shaping the school healthy personality.

Training objectives: The professional training system should master the basic theory and applied technology of sociology, be familiar with the basic characteristics and requirements of investigation work, have strong investigation practice ability and data analysis ability, understand the development status and frontier knowledge of applied sociology abroad, be able to engage in investigation, analysis and publicity management in judicial organs, industrial and commercial enterprises and institutions, and investigation departments, and have innovative thinking and practical ability.
