The Department of Journalism and Communication of Shandong University has gradually established the only complete "Bachelor (Undergraduate)-Master (Postgraduate)-Doctor (Postgraduate)-Postdoctoral" training system in Shandong Province in the process of recovery and construction for more than ten years.

At present, the School of Journalism and Communication of Shandong University has two undergraduate majors: doctoral program in journalism and communication (including two disciplines of journalism and communication), master program in journalism and communication, master program in design, master program in art and design, and journalism and advertising. Among them, journalism and communication is the key construction specialty of "joint construction of departments and schools" established by the Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China and the Ministry of Education, and design art is the key discipline in Shandong Province.
