Version 1
The origin of the name of Yixing Port in Tianjin is indeed related to Yixing in the south of the Yangtze River. In the early Ming Dynasty, in order to build the city of Beijing, a large number of Yixing migrant workers (boatmen) transported urban construction materials from south to north along the Grand Canal, and settled ashore here. Because Yixing people live in compact communities, it is the location of the dock (port), so it is called Yixing Port.
Version 2
In the Ming Dynasty, in order to attack the shortage of sailors in North Korea (now North Korea), Yixing Port in Tianjin mobilized about 500 sailors who could row boats from Yixing in the south of the Yangtze River and gathered for training at Yixing Port in Tianjin today. Later, due to the reconciliation with North Korea, the imperial court cancelled the attack plan, and those enlisted Yixing sailors could only marry and have children in the local area and thrive. Later, it became the dock of Yixing people. So it's called Yixing Port. Up to now, Yixing Port dialect is very similar to Yixing dialect.
