At present, there are no professional referees in domestic basketball games, and they are all part-time judges. Referees have fixed jobs in all units, and they all use their spare time to enforce the law for CBA or international competitions. There are many problems in this situation.
First of all, amateur referee is not conducive to the improvement of the professional level of referee. FIBA conducts referee training every once in a while to guide referee work. Amateur referees lack enough time to study business and can't get new information at the first time. They all spend their spare time watching video games and doing research. Compared with the high requirements of modern basketball for referees, this way of working is difficult to improve their professional level.
Secondly, it is difficult to ensure the consistency of referee work from multiple sources. The special requirement of the jury is that no matter how many members there are, they are like a person in law enforcement. Amateur referees have different working backgrounds, and off-court life has a great influence on their understanding of the rules, so it is difficult to ensure that their referees have uniform standards.
Moreover, amateur referees are difficult to manage. Each referee has his own job and is scattered all over the country. Chinese basketball association's management of them is basically superficial. Some referees are local leaders and deputies to the National People's Congress, and they have to accept the command of the Basketball Association when executing the referee work, which has caused great confusion in their work. For the sensitive issue of referee's integrity, the Basketball Association can't effectively manage it.
Professor Peking University and international referee Ma Lijun said that China must develop professional referees. The future development of FIBA referees will give referees more space to play their field rights, which requires referees to have higher professional ethics, which is difficult for amateur referees to do.
"The Basketball Association is now very supportive of the cultivation of referees. During the training, it was spread out in a large area, and a few outstanding referees concentrated on law enforcement competitions. " Ma Lijun said, "In the past, we only enforced a dozen games a season, but now it can reach thirty or forty games. The more law enforcement competitions, the better the understanding of the rules. "
It is reasonable to believe that professional basketball referees will appear in China in the near future.
