Shanghai University of Political Science and Law (hereinafter referred to as Shangzheng) is an ordinary undergraduate political science and law college in charge of Shanghai. It is one of the "National Defense Education Characteristic Schools" of the Ministry of Education, one of the "Professional Comprehensive Reform Pilot" universities in Shanghai, and a member of the "Li Ge Alliance" of the National University of Political Science and Law.

Founded in 1984, the school has gone through the stages of Shanghai Institute of Political Science and Law Management, Shanghai Law School and Shanghai University Law School. Undergraduate students are admitted from 1993 and graduate students from 1998. In September 2004, the Shanghai Municipal People's Government approved the establishment of Shanghai University Law School (Shanghai College of Political Science and Law Management Cadre).
