The Science and Technology Bureau is a functional department of the government. The highest-level institution is the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, the provincial unit is the Science and Technology Department, and the city and county level is called the Science and Technology Bureau.

The main responsibilities of the extended Information Technology Bureau are:

(five) to formulate policies to promote the integration of science and technology and finance in the city and organize their implementation; Responsible for coordinating science and technology and finance to develop a diversified investment system; To study and formulate measures for the management of special funds in conjunction with relevant departments, and organize the implementation of relevant planning projects; Guide the construction of relevant intermediary service institutions.
(six) to strengthen the work of rural and agricultural science and technology, and organize the formulation of policies and measures to promote the coordinated development of rural and urban areas through science and technology; Organize and guide rural science and technology demonstration, science and technology poverty alleviation, and science and technology activities in the countryside; Establish and improve the rural science and technology management system and service system, and promote rural construction focusing on improving people's livelihood; Undertake the evaluation of scientific and technological progress.
(seven) to study the major scientific and technological issues of social development and guide the scientific and technological work related to social construction and social welfare undertakings, such as resources and environment, medicine and health, and ecological protection; Responsible for the city's scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges, and carry out scientific and technological propaganda, scientific and technological information, scientific and technological statistics, scientific and technological secrecy, scientific and technological exhibitions and popular science work.
