Dalian polytechnic university (formerly Dalian Institute of Light Industry), formerly known as Shenyang Institute of Light Industry, is the only institution of higher learning in Northeast China that features light textile. 1958 was founded in Shenyang, with five undergraduate majors: textile, printing and dyeing, man-made fiber, chemical industry and brewing. During the Cultural Revolution, 65 colleges and universities were abolished in Liaoning Province. Due to the distinctive features of the school, the trained talents are urgently needed by the society and become one of the 25 universities that have been preserved. The school first moved to Kuandian, Liaoning, and then moved to Dalian. 1970 was renamed Dalian Institute of Light Industry. 1978 The school was changed from the dual leadership of the Ministry of Light Industry and Liaoning Province to the Ministry of Light Industry. 1998 the school was transformed into a management system led by the central and local governments and the people's government of Liaoning province.
