Secondary school students only need to graduate and pass the corresponding physical examination and other tests to join the army.

Secondary school students studying at school, except for rural hukou, cannot be soldiers in principle. For non-agricultural registered permanent residence citizens to perform military service, students who have graduated from high schools (including vocational high schools and technical secondary schools) and have not graduated from technical secondary schools are not allowed to serve as soldiers in principle.

Article 11 The number, requirements and time of annual enlistment for active service throughout the country shall be stipulated by orders issued by the State Council and the Central Military Commission (CMC) (hereinafter referred to as the Central Military Commission).

The local people's governments at or above the county level shall organize military service organs and relevant departments to set up conscription agencies and be responsible for organizing and implementing conscription work.

Article 13 The State practices the military service registration system. Before December 31st each year, male citizens who have reached the age of eighteen shall, in accordance with the arrangements of the military service organs of counties, autonomous counties, cities and municipal districts, conduct military service registration before June 30th of that year. Those who pass the preliminary examination in military service registration are called eligible citizens.

Article 14 During conscription, citizens eligible for enlistment shall, in accordance with the notice of the military service organs of counties, autonomous counties, cities and municipal districts, go to the designated physical examination stations for physical examination on time.

Citizens who meet the conditions for active service shall be enlisted for active service with the approval of the military service organs of counties, autonomous counties, cities and municipal districts.

Article 15 During the period of conscription, citizens who have been enlisted for active service and citizens who have been recruited or employed by state organs, organizations, enterprises and institutions shall give priority to fulfilling their military service obligations; The relevant organs, organizations, enterprises and institutions shall obey the needs of national defense and army building and support the conscription work.

Sixteenth citizens eligible for enlistment are the only labor force to maintain family life, and can be postponed to join the army.

Seventeenth citizens who are being investigated, prosecuted or tried according to law, or sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment, criminal detention or public surveillance, shall not be recruited.
