Lhasa Teachers College is the only normal college in Xizang Autonomous Region and the only university directly under Lhasa.
The school was formerly a "teacher training class" founded by Lhasa Municipal Bureau of Culture and Education 1964. Lhasa Normal School was established in August, 1975. In February 2006, it was upgraded to Lhasa Normal College with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
At present, Lhasa Normal University is actively preparing to upgrade to an undergraduate college, further clarifying its development orientation, effectively highlighting its school-running characteristics and main business, gradually strengthening the construction of teaching staff, comprehensively improving the level of teaching, scientific research and social services, making every effort to speed up the pace of infrastructure construction, and actively trying to open a new engine for running an undergraduate school in Lhasa Normal University.
Lhasa Teachers College is located at No.301,Group 2, Ding Bai Village, Caigongtang Street, Chengguan District, Lhasa. It is the only normal college in Xizang Autonomous Region and the only directly affiliated university in Lhasa. The school covers an area of 6 12.5 mu, with a building area of198,600 square meters. In August, 2020, it was moved to the current site as a whole. The school has 15 secondary institutions, including 6 administrative departments, 7 teaching departments and 2 teaching auxiliary units. The school party committee consists of 8 general party branches and 26 party branches. The number of students in the school is 498 1. There are 28 student societies. There are 22 ethnic groups including Tibetan, Han, Hui, Bai and Yi among the teachers and students.
The school has won the first-class professional training project of the autonomous region 1, 20 research projects of educational reform at the autonomous region level, and published 8 teaching materials; Teachers won the first prize of liberal arts group 1, the second prize of southwest region teaching competition 1, the first prize of autonomous region teaching competition 2, the second prize 1, the third prize 2 and the merit prize 3 in the fifth national college young teachers' teaching competition. Students participated in the professional skills competition and won 19 national awards and 20 provincial and ministerial awards.
In the past three years, all the teachers in the school have published academic monographs 19 and 235 academic papers (including 2 core journal papers1article); Four national social science funds, humanities and social science projects of the Ministry of Education and national education planning projects were completed, and 28 scientific research projects at the autonomous region level were completed. At present, there are 3 national social science projects under research, 3 projects of the Ministry of Education and autonomous region 18 projects.
