In March 2008, President Wu Xishan, a representative of the Municipal People's Congress, suggested that the school be renamed "Qianjiang Caoyu Middle School" at the Fifth Session of the Sixth Municipal People's Congress. There are three reasons: first, it helps us to educate generations of Qianjiang people to remember Cao Yu, a cultural celebrity who makes Qianjiang people proud. The second is to make the school more cultural and educational. Garden No.4 Middle School is located in the ring road of the racecourse at the north gate of the city, with a linear distance of 200 meters from Caoyu Park, which can be said to be the back garden of the school. Mr. Cao Yu's study experience and his life of unremitting struggle for literature and art are good examples for students to learn and good teaching materials for the school. Caoyu Park is a good place for schools to carry out education and teaching activities. The renaming of Caoyu Middle School will further enrich the cultural connotation of the school. The third is to make the school more meaningful in brand building. At present, the quality of school education and teaching is excellent, and literature, science and technology, sports and art education have achieved fruitful results. The school's chorus, wind music, folk music, national dance, sports dance, basketball team and table tennis team won the first place in the city for many times. The national dance "Proud Snow" and the sports dance textbook drama "Ugly Duckling" won the first prize of the Yellow Crane Aesthetic Education Festival in the province, and the school participated in the performance of the Spring Festival gala in the city many times. If the school is renamed as Caoyu Middle School, it will be more conducive to the construction of a distinctive brand of school art education, and more conducive to the establishment of a distinctive model school, out of Qianjiang, towards Hubei and towards the whole country.
Wu Xishan's suggestion has been fully affirmed by the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, and has also attracted the attention of the leaders of the municipal party committee and municipal government. On April 8 this year, Wan Fang, the daughter of Cao Yu, a famous writer and screenwriter, visited the school and listened to the special report of President Wu Xishan. She is very satisfied with the school's school-running concept, conditions, teaching staff, educational and teaching activities and school management, and happily wrote the name of "Qianjiang Caoyu Middle School" and the words "The sword is sharpened, and the plum blossom fragrance comes from bitter cold" for the school. After research, the city editorial board decided to rename Garden No.4 Middle School as Qianjiang Caoyu Middle School, and decided to hold a listing ceremony during the second China (Qianjiang) Caoyu Culture Week.
On May 4th, all members of the Party Committee of the Municipal Education Bureau, led by Director He Wei, went deep into the school to hold an on-site office meeting, conducted a comprehensive and serious investigation on the renaming and listing of the school, and decided to set up a special work class headed by Comrade Wang Training, secretary of the Party Committee, requiring careful planning and active preparation.
