Railway memorabilia of Bengbu Railway Bureau
In the 25th year of Guangxu reign in Qing dynasty (1899), Yingde proposed to build the Tianjin-Pukou railway trunk line, which was approved by the Qing court. The Qing court signed the Tianjin Pukou Railway Loan Contract with Yingde Bank, in which it borrowed 5 million pounds from Britain (and then 4.5 million pounds). Bengbu section was designed and built by Germans. The Jinpu line passes through Bengbu, mainly in the Bengbu section of Huaihe River, where the terrain is relatively high, and there are hard rock roots at the bottom of the river bed, which is convenient for bridge construction. Before this, it was suggested that the Jin-Pu line would pass through Linhuaiguan or Jingtu Mountain in Huaiyuan. The former was denied because of the low terrain, and the latter was difficult to build a bridge because of the swift river. After the bridge site was determined in Bengbu, there was a dispute over the choice of fixed bridge or movable bridge. The original design of Huaihe Railway Bridge used truss fixed bridge. In February, 65438+, 36 salt merchants in Bengbu jointly wrote to the Supervision and Marketing Bureau, asking for heightening the bridge opening or building a revolving movable bridge, on the grounds that "the fixed bridge opening is low and narrow, and it is inconvenient for salt ships to sail". After that, the Minister of Supervision sent two people to conduct on-the-spot investigation, and called a number of ships to conduct on-the-spot tests at Huaiyuan estuary, which proved that the construction of the fixed bridge did not hinder the navigation of the ships, and took this as a conclusion. In December of the thirty-fourth year of Guangxu reign in Qing Dynasty, the construction of Jin-Pu Railway started. Xuantongyuannian 1 1 month, the Huaihe railway bridge started construction. The designed bridge has 9 holes and is 586.23 meters long. It is the second bridge in China after Jinan Railway Bridge. All the steel beams were purchased from Scotland. The materials used to build the bridge were transported to Bengbu along the Yangtze River and Huaihe River. * * 8,806 cubic meters of concrete, 352 cubic meters of granite, 508 cubic meters of stone, 0.06 million barrels of cement and 2,500 tons of steel are used, and the total cost is nearly 1 10,000 silver dollars, saving 1 10,000 yuan compared with the original plan. In the third year of Xuantong, the railway bridge was finally completed on April 17, which lasted 18 months. Jinpu Railway was completed in August of the third year of Xuantong. Bengbu section is 65 kilometers long. The subgrade width of the line is 6. 14m. The main rail is made in Britain and weighs 3 1kg per meter. Each rail is laid with 14 sleeper, with the ballast bed thickness of 20cm and the train running speed of 40km per hour. At first, there was only one fence on the platform of Bengbu, which was separated from the outside of the station. There are three telegraph lines and 1 telephone lines, and a simple signal machine is installed. It is equipped with nine locomotives, all made abroad, most of which are old, and then equipped with 2 1 locomotives made in Japan. A Huaihe water supply station and two wrought iron water pipes, each with a diameter of 15cm, will be built under the Huaihe Railway Bridge, and two water cranes will be set in the station to facilitate the locomotive to feed water on the platform. In 6 years of the Republic of China, more than 40 mu of land was purchased near Bamu Garden (private garden) to build a large road overpass. The bridge deck is made of steel-wood structure, with a total length of17.35m and a width of 6m. The clearance under the bridge is 5.15m, and the load is 8 tons. The two ends of the bridge are connected with the road in an "S" shape. In 6 years of the Republic of China, a vehicle warehouse with an area of 699 square meters was built in Laochuantang, commonly known as a small platform, to handle the transshipment of goods by water. In 27 years, it was renamed as Wharf Station, which handled vehicle freight business and became an independent freight station. Later, it was renamed Xinbu Station. In 23, it was changed to electric interlocking signal, and a signal room was built with interlocking machine for centralized management. In 24 years of the Republic of China, Bengbu Railway was expanded, with 65,438 arrival and departure lines and shunting lines +0 1, 3 passenger platforms, and four-line wooden cross arms for traffic dispatching telephone lines 1. The railway telephone has a 1 exchange room, 20 magnet switches and 20 telephone extensions. In 27 years of the Republic of China, the Japanese army invaded Bengbu, and the China army bombed the Huaihe Railway Bridge to prevent the Japanese army from invading northward. After the Japanese army occupied Bengbu, it began the restoration work.

From April to June in 1933, the Japanese army dismantled the rails and equipment of Huainan Railway and rebuilt it into Shuijiahu-Bengbu Shuibang Railway. Driving speed is 30 kilometers per hour. In 35 years, 35kW steam generator 1 set, diesel generator 10kW, power line 1 strip, length 1km. In the early 38th year of the Republic of China, in order to prevent the People's Liberation Army from going south, Gu, the chief of staff of the Ministry of National Defense, ordered the transportation of explosives from Nanjing to Bengbu, and blew up the Huaihe Railway Bridge on June 65438+1October 65438+June 6. Bengbu was liberated on the 20th. At this time, the PLA urgently needs to build bridges in order to fight south. At that time, the Ministry of Railways, railway soldiers and Soviet experts believed that the Huaihe River Bridge was seriously damaged and it was difficult to repair it immediately. They decided to build a semi-permanent temporary bridge to the west of the original bridge before building the main bridge. More than 2,000 officers and men of the Railway Corps undertook the construction, and at the same time, divers from Shandong Rongcheng and Weihai 13 were dispatched to assist in the work. During the construction of the bridge, Wang Jizhen and six other people gave their lives for it. 1In September, 949, the preparatory work for the restoration of the old Huaihe River Bridge began, and 1 16 started in June, which was undertaken by Jinan Railway Bureau. It took 237 days, * * * used 200,000 man-days, consumed 286 tons of steel 154 tons, 382,000 sleepers, rubble 13000 cubic meters, laid track lines and connected main lines193 meters. During the restoration period, the construction was not only difficult, but also harassed by Kuomintang military planes from time to time, and bridge builders Wang Huanlun, Song Hengtai and Liu sacrificed for it. Since the 1920s, there has been a special railway line in Bengbu. On the eve of liberation, three special lines, Baoxing, Xinfengli and Shanghai Zhan, were built one after another for use by two flour mills and some warehouses.
