Sand also glows.

Desire to be appreciated is the most essential demand of human beings, and appreciation is especially important for growing students. Appreciating, trusting and encouraging children can help them develop their strengths and avoid their weaknesses, overcome their inferiority complex and build up their self-confidence. I am deeply touched by this.

I remember that the fall semester of 2004 just started, because there were too many students in two classes of graduating class, the school decided to divide them into three classes, and consciously took out the good students from the two classes and gathered them together to facilitate teaching. Those students who couldn't be selected stayed in their original classes. And I am the Chinese teacher of this "poor class". At first, students' thoughts fluctuated greatly. They feel inferior because they can't be selected into a "good class". They think they are poor students, and their original teachers don't want them (they have been with their original teachers for five years and have deep feelings). For these, I understand. I know that in the face of such a situation, it is probably difficult for students to accept me at once. I think we should restore their confidence in learning first, and then let them have confidence in me and believe that I can teach them well. So in the first class of the first week of school, I didn't attend the text, but talked with them about "confidence". I told them, "In my eyes, you are not poor students. You just run a little slower than others. As long as you are willing to run, you will catch up with others and even surpass others. " Seeing their bright eyes, I suddenly felt very moved. I made up my mind at that time that I must teach them well! I also told them many stories about celebrities studying hard. Then I said to them, "As long as it is gold, it will shine sooner or later, and sometimes the sand will shine." Finally, everyone said after me three times: "I can do it", and the class was over. It can be seen that the students are very moved. The next day, when I had my first Chinese class, everyone sat upright and studied hard. Of course, I have made full preparations, because I know that the first class is very important, and I hope they have confidence in me. At that time, we studied the landscape of Guilin. After leading the students to appreciate the beauty of Guilin's landscape, I said, "Who can recite such a beautiful article at once?" Students, you look at me, I look at you, and no one makes any noise. Seeing this situation, I said, "It doesn't matter. Tell you what, the teacher will recite first, and you will grade the teacher, okay? " The students cheered at once, listened carefully to my text and gave me high marks. Seeing the envious eyes of my classmates, I said, "The teacher can recite the text because the teacher is prepared, so can you. Now you can prepare 10 minutes and recite a paragraph. " The students are absorbed in reading, with books in their hands. The sound of reading rings through the window and gently echoes on the playground. Time is up, students raise their hands, dense. Who should I call? Suddenly I saw Liao Lingxi hanging his head. He was the only person in the class who didn't raise his hand. It is said that the student's grades are poor and he has never passed the Chinese exam. "Please ask Liao Lingxi to take the stage to recite". When he heard my voice, he froze. Obviously, he didn't expect me to call him and didn't stand up. Classmates reminded him that he stood up slowly, looking very shy, and began to recite: "The water in Guilin is so clear ..." He didn't recite fluently, but he could finish this paragraph. I took the lead in applauding him, and he sat down excitedly in the applause of his classmates. Then I said, "You are really good. You can recite this text in such a short time. I believe that as long as you work hard, nothing can beat you in the future. " You're all fine! The teacher likes you and appreciates you, and you will succeed! "The students responded with warm applause. In this way, the students' confidence in learning came back and I was recognized by them. I'm very proud. Under my guidance, after a year of hard work, our class achieved good results in the graduation exam in 2005, and two students were admitted to the experimental middle school.

Today, I often think: as an educator, we teachers should learn to appreciate students, dig their advantages with heart, try to make students believe in their own strength, and try to make students feel that learning is their honor. Growing children are sensitive at heart. Perhaps a casual look of approval, a brief praise, and an involuntary applause will all become a great motivation for their study and life.
