How to have healthy and beautiful teeth
How to have healthy and beautiful teeth? Here are five basic questions you need to answer. Interviewed expert: Zhang Zhensheng, member and training lecturer of China Chief International Computer Dentistry Association (ISCD). Graduated from School of Stomatology, Tianjin Medical University, she is now a cosmetologist in Beijing Jingdian Stomatological Clinic, a member of Chinese Stomatological Association and a prosthodontist.

1, what kind of teeth are healthy? Is whiter teeth healthier?

A: It can be said that everyone will experience the process of changing teeth from childhood tooth eruption to the end of changing teeth before puberty. With the process of physical and mental growth, it takes more than ten years to establish a stable and normal occlusion, but are your teeth healthy? The dental health standards formulated by the World Health Organization (WHO) are: clean teeth, no cavities, no pain, normal gum color and no bleeding. One does not conform, and the other is unhealthy.

The survey shows that the number of people who meet the dental health standards in China is less than 1%, which is shocking and should be paid attention to. When you talk to your family face to face, does it reflect that your mouth stinks? Open your mouth and find that your gums are swollen? Brushing teeth often bleeds? Can you see obvious grayish yellow tartar and plaque on your teeth? Are teeth sensitive or even painful when they meet cold, hot, sour and sweet? Is the tooth loose? Dare not bite food? Wait a minute. If you have the above problems, there is something wrong with your teeth. It can be seen that we still have a lot of homework to do if we want to have healthy teeth.

Teeth are the hardest organs in the human body and perform chewing function. Teeth are made of calcium, the surface of which is called enamel and the inside is dentin. The color of teeth is determined by the enamel on the surface and the nature of the inner layer. Healthy teeth are yellow in color. In my opinion, the color of teeth has nothing to do with the health of teeth. If you are born with white teeth, but if you don't take good care of them, you may get tooth decay and periodontal disease. Modern people pursue tooth whitening from the perspective of beauty and fashion. We also firmly believe that beautiful and healthy teeth will make people more confident and show charming smiles, and we will also complete cosmetic restoration treatment based on healthy and beautiful teeth. However, any treatment must master a certain degree. For example, teeth only turn yellow with age, which may be changed by bleaching. We don't recommend using porcelain crowns to solve this problem.

In addition, from the dentist's point of view, the natural beauty of teeth is the most important, which is in harmony with lip shape, mouth shape, face shape and skin color. The whiter the better. The beauty of teeth can not be achieved only by pursuing white. Excessive pursuit of artificial white may have an impact on teeth. We just hope that healthy and beautiful teeth and their charming smiles can add points to your temperament, appearance and charm; If you don't want to open your mouth, the focus will fall directly on your teeth and grab the whole scenery. It's just that your teeth are too white or too fake. So, you should understand the meaning of this question.

2. How to keep your teeth healthy?

A: There is talk about healthy teeth everywhere, such as how to brush your teeth. How to floss? How long does it take to wash your teeth or something? But how many people can really adhere to the standards? This can be seen from the patients I visited. Every time I teach brushing carefully, the patient did well at first, from brushing time to brushing frequency and seriousness, but it was not good in the past 1~2 months, as can be seen from the plaque and tartar deposition on the teeth. Therefore, it is really difficult to do good things all your life.

But I found that most patients in developed countries abroad persisted well. Investigate its reason, I think the most important thing is the establishment of ideas. This concept is not a simple "tooth protection". It has been scientifically proved that pathogenic bacteria in the oral cavity will have an impact on systemic diseases such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and diabetes, and will also have an impact on pregnant women and babies. Protecting teeth is equal to protecting health, which has reached a higher level. Also, from another perspective, foreign countries will regard the quality of their teeth as the embodiment of their dignity. Abnormal teeth and bad breath are disrespectful to others and lazy to oneself. They will think that they are perfunctory. Will they try their best to treat others? In the face of customers and friends, you should dress yourself properly and timely. Everyone knows this. Aren't you afraid that the bad breath in your mouth will smoke others? This is a manifestation of culture and literacy. Therefore, many successful people who have reached the level of professors or doctors in China are gnashing their teeth for interviews, which is really shameful! It is feasible to understand and establish the concept of "teeth should be well protected" from these two angles, and it should be vigorously publicized. Once the concept is established, it will be much easier to have ideas and then guide actions.

The following are the basic principles of how to care for teeth: brush your teeth 2~3 times a day, with the bristles at about 45 degrees to the tooth surface and brush vertically along the teeth. The upper teeth are down, and the lower teeth are up, instead of a zigzag brush, which will damage the teeth and gums. Brush back and forth before occlusion. Don't be less than 3 minutes at a time, and the brush action should be standard; With the application of dental floss, we should carefully study the use method; Go to a regular dentist once every six months, find problems and solve them in time, so as to prevent them before they happen, instead of repairing them, which saves time and pain, saves money and kills two birds with one stone.

There are all kinds of toothpastes/toothbrushes in the market. How to choose the right toothpaste/toothbrush?

A: Don't think that with toothpaste and toothbrush, your teeth will be all right. How to choose toothpaste and toothbrush is also learned. It's not enough to choose the right one. We must adhere to the correct method of brushing our teeth and put it into action before we can really brush our teeth.

Toothpaste is composed of powder friction agent, wetting agent, surfactant, adhesive, perfume, sweetener and other special ingredients. If it belongs to daily maintenance, the choice of toothpaste is relatively simple, and toothpaste containing special ingredients is not needed, just buy it in the supermarket; If the patient has diseases such as gingivitis or periodontitis, you can use some medicinal toothpaste, which can't be used for a long time, and you should follow the doctor's advice; There are also some fluoride toothpaste to prevent tooth decay, but patients with dental fluorosis can no longer use it; Some people like to smoke and drink tea, and their teeth are easily attached with pigments. You can use some toothpaste with whitening effect.

Then there is the choice of toothbrush. For our commonly used toothbrush, it is recommended to use a small brush head, which is basically the width of two teeth. Even the last tooth can be brushed easily, reducing the chance of leaving a dead corner. Some people are prone to nausea after brushing their teeth. Small brush head can reduce foreign body sensation; Soft bristles reduce the chance of wearing teeth. When your manual toothbrush is in place and the method is right, you can also choose some good brands of electric toothbrushes, which greatly increases the cleaning efficiency. Some patients with periodontal disease have large teeth after their gums shrink back. We suggest that the use of interval brushes and tooth washers while brushing teeth will make the teeth cleaner and reduce the attachment of dental plaque and bacteria.

For patients receiving orthodontic treatment, tooth cleaning is particularly important. Teeth themselves have many angles, and orthodontic brackets increase the chances of plaque and bacteria attachment. Therefore, correct brushing and professional orthodontic toothbrush can achieve good cleaning effect. Therefore, try to follow the doctor's advice and protect your teeth, which will benefit you for life.

4. The common methods of dental care are as follows: sugar-free chewing gum, breath freshener, mouthwash and dental floss. What are their advantages and disadvantages?

A: Actually, all the methods mentioned above are auxiliary methods, but I think the most important one should be dental floss. This is related to the deposition of dental plaque and tartar on the tooth surface. The deposition of dental plaque and tartar is actually a kind of mechanical attachment, which can only be removed by mechanical cleaning. Don't expect to melt dental plaque and tartar by taking medicine or gargling. Once tartar is deposited, it is difficult to remove it by brushing your teeth. Only a professional dentist can pull it out for you. So the above methods must not be above professional health care. Only when you realize this, can you make better use of them.

Let's talk about flossing first. When brushing your teeth, basically, your teeth can't be cleaned. Flossing can remove the soft dirt between dental plaque and teeth. China people should learn to use it. The standard practice is to use it every day, which has only benefits. No shortcomings have been found yet. I have to say, it's just a little difficult to learn, but it's easy after learning.

Let's talk about chewing gum again. Our teeth belong to chewing tools and consumables. How to protect tools? Is the rational use, excessive use will cause problems and wear. Chewing gum can be eaten, but you can't chew it continuously. It is nothing more than covering up oral odor, promoting saliva secretion and playing a self-cleaning role, but its efficacy cannot be exaggerated. Sugar-free chewing gum will be better, reducing the retention time of sugar in the mouth and reducing the occurrence of tooth decay. Breath freshener can only do so much, but if you have bad breath, don't expect it to help you. If you mix smell with smell, it will be counterproductive. Going to the dentist to cure your dental disease first, and then spraying a little breath freshener will only increase your charm.

The brand of mouthwash is even more mixed, and mouthwash is also used in conjunction with brushing. Don't be naive to think that you don't have to brush your teeth after mouthwash. Brush your teeth carefully before using mouthwash. Mouthwashes are mainly divided into two categories: one contains anti-inflammatory drugs, which are mainly used to treat oral inflammation such as periodontal disease and oral ulcer; The other is non-medicinal, that is, non-therapeutic, mainly to eliminate oral odor, without special attention. Mouthwash containing anti-inflammatory drugs can not be used for a long time, because it will destroy the normal flora in the mouth, cause flora imbalance and cause oral diseases. Therefore, when choosing mouthwash, you must read the instructions carefully to understand its use and efficacy, and don't choose blindly.

5. Tooth whitening is becoming more and more popular. What kind of tooth whitening is healthy?

A: Contemporary people will demand more and more beauty, from beauty, plastic surgery, fitness, weight loss to tooth whitening, all of which are manifestations of this demand. This is actually the overall improvement of spiritual literacy, which should be encouraged, but it should also be measured. The abuse of tetracycline and the large-scale drinking of high-content fluoride water in the past have caused a considerable number of people in China to suffer greatly, resulting in tetracycline teeth and dental fluorosis, which are not only ugly in color, but also accompanied by enamel defects and injuries. Therefore, it is inevitable to be embarrassed to grin or cover your mouth. People often feel insecure and even inferior when interacting with others, and some people even leave psychological shadows.

At present, the commonly used whitening methods in dentistry are: tooth drug bleaching (household bleaching, cold light bleaching, laser bleaching, etc. ); Beauty veneer (all-ceramic veneer, resin veneer); Porcelain crown (all-ceramic crown, metal porcelain crown). In fact, all the above methods have their indications, so patients who want to whiten their teeth must go to a professional dentist for consultation and check, and choose the tooth whitening method that suits them.

If there are only some smoke spots and pigments in the teeth, they can be removed by washing the teeth and bleached with drugs if necessary. They can be done at home or in the clinic, which is a conservative whitening method, but this method is not suitable for all patients, such as deep tetracycline teeth or dental fluorosis, and the improvement will not be too obvious. If the teeth are basically arranged in order, but the color changes or the enamel is slightly defective, and the effect can not be achieved by bleaching, then all-ceramic veneer can be used to complete the work, and the effect is very good, and very little tooth tissue is removed. After 2 ~ 3 years of resin veneer, it will be aging, discoloring and easy to wear, so it is suitable for temporary dental restoration. In addition, some patients have many cavities and even need root canal treatment, so it is best for such patients to choose porcelain crowns, preferably all-ceramic crowns, which will also achieve the effect of tooth whitening.

Which whitening method is healthy? The most important thing is not to choose the wrong indications and not to do porcelain crowns. If every whitening method is aimed at every suitable indication, then it is healthy, and of course it has the greatest relationship with the doctor's skill and the professionalism of the whole treatment process, so it is very important to choose a professional dentist.
