Can Nanchang take the Putonghua test without a residence permit?

Yes, but there are conditions. Only students in Nanchang area, candidates whose schools (colleges) have not established a Putonghua training and testing station or have never organized a Putonghua proficiency test (excluding faculty).

Nanchang Putonghua proficiency test applicants and qualification requirements:

The registration examination only accepts the following three types of qualified candidates (any one of the three requirements can be met).

1. Candidates whose household registration belongs to Nanchang City (including three counties and nine districts);

2. Candidates whose household registration does not belong to Nanchang, but who have obtained a valid residence permit in Nanchang;

3. Students in Nanchang, schools (colleges) have not yet established a Putonghua training and testing station or candidates who have never organized a Putonghua proficiency test (excluding faculty).
