The standardization of sign language in People's Republic of China (PRC) can be traced back to 1950s, and it is under the responsibility of the Sign Language Group of the Institute of Linguistics of China Academy of Sciences. Since then, sign language norms have always been an important part of Chinese language norms.
In recent years, with the development of deaf education and the change of deaf communication, the standardization of sign language has attracted more and more attention from all walks of life.
Sign language is a unique language with rich expressive force and strict grammatical rules. Due to the cultural background, regional differences and diversity of sign language users, there are some differences and variations in the use of sign language. In order to make sign language more standardized and unified, China has carried out the standardization of common sign language.
Firstly, the Basic Signs of Sign Language of the People and the State of China was formulated. This is the basis of Chinese sign language standardization, which provides a basic basis for sign language education, sign language translation and sign language research.
Secondly, the study of sign language has been strengthened. By studying the grammar, vocabulary and expression of sign language, we can deeply understand the characteristics and laws of sign language and provide theoretical support for the standardization of sign language.
Third, sign language teachers were trained. In order to improve the quality of sign language education, China has carried out sign language teacher training and standardized training and evaluation for sign language teachers to ensure the quality of sign language education.
In addition, China has strengthened the standardization of sign language. The Chinese sign language standard has been formulated, and the vocabulary, grammar and expression of sign language have been standardized, which provides a basis for sign language translation and sign language education.
With the development of deaf education and the change of deaf communication, the standardization of sign language will attract more and more attention from all walks of life. At the same time, more linguists, educators and deaf people need to participate and support, so as to promote the standardized development of common sign language in China.
