Liver disease is one of the main infectious diseases that endanger human health. In order to realize the persistent desire of "making every liver patient have a healthy liver", Beijing Institute of Hepatology of Traditional Chinese Medicine Hall has established five distinctive therapies for liver diseases (namely, "agonist therapy for viral hepatitis") through long-term and large-scale clinical practice, drawing on the strengths of many liver disease researchers at home and abroad and striving for perfection. "Two-step therapy" for chronic hepatitis B in immune tolerance period: "Chinese patent medicine compound therapy" for chronic hepatitis and liver cirrhosis; "Triple therapy of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine" for the treatment of intractable ascites, pleural effusion and severe hepatitis due to liver cirrhosis and "image interventional therapy of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine" for the treatment of splenomegaly and advanced liver cancer); Successfully developed 43 kinds of special prescriptions for treating various hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, splenomegaly, portal hypertension, hydrothorax and ascites, fatty liver, pregnant hepatitis, gastropathy, cholecystitis and various complications, and developed 72 kinds of decoction prescriptions for strengthening the treatment of a certain disease and sign by oral administration or enema; At the same time, a perfect standard for the diagnosis and treatment of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine in hospitals has been formulated. For all kinds of hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, cholecystitis, gastropathy and its complications, there are drugs to treat physical symptoms and syndromes, and the curative effect is greatly improved by combining traditional Chinese and western medicine.

The patients in the Institute of Liver Diseases of Beijing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hall are all over the country and overseas. Over the years, they have won social recognition with their superb medical skills, elegant environment, low fees, excellent service and remarkable curative effect, and won more than 20 honors and many scientific research achievement awards. In February 2007, the hospital took the initiative to undertake the liver disease welfare project sponsored by Beijing Provincial Health Department and Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and provided free training for 10,000 rural doctors in the province. In May, 2007, it was named as the National Technical Education Base for Liver Diseases of Traditional Chinese Medicine. From June 5438, 2006 to February 2006, it was approved by state administration of traditional chinese medicine as a key liver disease specialist in state administration of traditional chinese medicine during the Tenth Five-Year Plan period.

Many senior experts from the Institute of Liver Diseases of Beijing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hall have successively been employed as directors of the China Hepatitis Prevention and Treatment Foundation of the Ministry of Health, the World Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Academic Steering Committee of the World Medical Journal, the Standing Director of the Liver Diseases Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Director of the Beijing Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the Chairman of the Beijing Hepatobiliary Diseases Professional Committee of Traditional Chinese Medicine. They were rated as one of the outstanding figures of China Reform 100 in the third century.
