The AFC's graded coach training system is divided into four grades: PRO, A, B and C. D and E are unique to China, and D is formulated by China Football Association and AFC according to the national conditions of China.

E-level certificate: can be a coach of grass-roots football team; D-level certificate: you can engage in youth football training; C-level certificate: can coach amateur football team; B-level certificate: you can coach teams below the second line of professional clubs; A-level certificate: you can coach professional clubs.

People with professional certificates can coach top league teams. According to the regulations of the Football Association, starting from 20 10, the head coaches of Chinese Super League and Chinese A teams must hold this card. According to the regulations of the AFC, starting from 20 17, the head coach of the team participating in the AFC Champions League must hold this card.

By the end of 20 17, China Football Association had 27,745 D-level coaches, 9,983 C-level coaches, 2,027 B-level coaches, 899 A-level coaches and 42 professional coaches, with a total of 40,796 coaches.
