Compared with the original qualification evaluation system for translation professional and technical posts, the translation professional qualification (level) examination embodies the principles of science, objectivity, fairness and impartiality, and applicants are not limited by academic qualifications, qualifications and majors. Persons who have obtained certificates at all levels and meet the qualifications of translation professional posts may be employed by the employing unit as needed. Before the qualification examination system is fully established, there will be a coexistence period between the old and new systems. The qualification examination for translation majors will be gradually pushed forward in different languages and at different levels. With the examination gradually pushed to the whole country, the old qualification evaluation system for translation majors and technical posts will gradually withdraw from the historical stage.

The examination refers to the translation qualification certification standards of the United States, Canada, the European Union, Britain, Australia and other countries and regions, and is an international-level certification examination.
The national foreign language translation certificate examination is currently available in English and Japanese. Japanese includes three levels, and English includes four levels. Each level of the two languages includes two certificates of translation and interpretation, and those who pass the examination can obtain corresponding certificates of translation or interpretation. NAETI also includes four levels.
