In recent years, the scores of CET-4, CET-8 and International Japanese Test-1 in Foreign Languages Institute are among the best in the whole province, which is higher than the national average pass rate. The number of undergraduates and postgraduates admitted to key universities in China has increased year by year, such as Fudan University, Nankai University, Shanghai International Studies University, Shandong University, Foreign Affairs University, East China Normal University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Beijing Foreign Studies University and Tianjin Foreign Studies University.

In the 9th "FLTRP Cup" National English Debate Competition in 2005, the team of Shenyang Normal University stood out from more than 100 teams and won the national runner-up, which was a great breakthrough in the history of English major development in Shenyang Normal University. As the runner-up of the National Debate Competition, the Shenyang Normal University team represented China in February 2005 in Dublin, the Irish capital, and achieved ideal results. In recent years, students of Foreign Languages Institute have achieved excellent results in various professional competitions at national, provincial and municipal levels.

At present, the School of Foreign Languages is the designated test center for IELTS test in Northeast England, PETS (Grade1-5) in Liaoning Province, the designated test center for children's English test in Cambridge, the designated test center for national foreign language translation certificate test, the designated test center for international Japanese proficiency test, and the designated training center for foreign language training of "100 million talents" project of Liaoning Provincial People's Government.
