Nanjing University is an institution of higher learning with a long history and outstanding reputation. Its predecessor was Sanjiang Normal School, which was founded in 1902. Later, it was renamed Nanjing University on 1950 after the historical periods of Liangjiang Normal University and National Nanjing University. 1952, in the adjustment of colleges and universities in China, Nanjing University adjusted some departments such as engineering, agronomy and normal education, and later merged with the College of Arts and Sciences of Jinling University founded by 1888, and was still named Nanjing University. The school site was moved from Sipailou to the original site of Drum Tower Jinda.

Nanjing University of Science and Technology, located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, is a public university of science and engineering under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
