1, shell requirements
When feeding, you can choose a cellar or open space as a feeding enclosure, and the enclosure can be surrounded by bricks and divided into three functional areas, which are respectively set as production and breeding area, breeding and mating area and feeding area.
2. Seed selection
Breeding mice should be healthy, disease-free, with bright hair. Male mice should be well developed, with obvious testicles and strong sexual desire, and their weight should reach above 65438±0.35kg. Breeding female rats require high litter rate, strong feeding ability, weight above 65438±0.25kg, and more than 3 pairs of nursing nipples.
3. Feeding management
Bamboo rat is a vegetarian, and its main food sources are bamboo roots, some grasses, reeds and so on. Under normal circumstances, bamboo rats can get water through the food they eat, and basically do not need to drink water. Within 3 months, bamboo rats can be fed with fresh, digestible and nutritious feed, such as succulent feed such as carrot, sweet potato, bamboo shoots and melon peel, supplemented by concentrate such as corn, wheat bran and dried steamed bread. Fish meal, bone meal, salt, vitamins and auxin can be added to the diet to improve the digestibility of feed and promote the growth and development of young rats.
Adult rats should be fed regularly and quantitatively. It can be fed once in the morning and once in the evening, with straw150-200g and concentrate15-20g per day. The basic diet doesn't need to be changed frequently. If there is a transition period to change, adult rats can grow teeth quickly. You can put a bamboo pole or hardwood bar in the cage and let them grind their teeth.
4. Daily management
The breeding environment of bamboo rat is not large, so it is necessary to disinfect the pen regularly to avoid bacterial infection, clean up the excrement in time and ensure the pen clean. Bamboo rats are timid and easily frightened, and reducing fright is helpful to their growth.
5, disease prevention and treatment
The common diseases of bamboo rats are gastroenteritis, trauma, cold, stomatitis and so on. Gastroenteritis can be directly treated with oxytetracycline. If it can be treated in time, the bamboo rat can recover easily. In case of trauma, iodine can be used to properly disinfect the smaller part of the wound. If it is serious, the wound should be cleaned first, then the powder should be applied externally and isolated.
The commonly used medicine for colds is Radix Isatidis granule, which is mixed with warm water and poured into the drinking water tank of bamboo rats for treatment. For bamboo rats with severe cold, spiramycin can also be used for treatment. Stomatitis infection can be treated by applying proper amount of iodine glycerin in the mouth or washing the affected part of the mouth with potassium permanganate regularly. For seriously ill bamboo rats, appropriate doses of penicillin can be injected.
