Is Qian Weiqing a calligrapher?
Qian Weiqing loved art and calligraphy since childhood, and studied painting under Mr. Wu Zinan (now a professor in the Fine Arts Department of Jiangxi Normal University). Later, in the long-term palace work, I always maintained my love for calligraphy art, starting from copying the inscriptions of Yan Zhenqing and Liu Gongquan, and persisting in learning a variety of inscriptions for several years without interruption. During his service in the army, he studied Chinese painting with Mr. Zhang Kun, a military painter, and participated in army training and calligraphy creation activities many times. When I was working in Shangrao, Jiangxi, I studied calligraphy, seal cutting and poetry under the calligrapher Mr. Wang Kedi, and participated in many provincial calligraphy competitions and won prizes. After being transferred to Nanchang, he studied under Mr. Fu, vice chairman of Jiangxi Calligraphy Association, and his calligraphy has made great progress. He participated in many provincial and national calligraphy exhibitions and won the second prize of 1993 National Court System Calligraphy Competition. After entering Beijing, he studied calligraphy and official script of Erwang and Mi Fei successively under Mr. Zhang Rongqing and Mr. Qiu Zhenzhong, and was good at cursive script. His works have participated in various exhibitions of China Artists Association for many times, and media such as People's Court Newspaper, China Culture and Art Network and Calligraphy Guide have introduced Qian Hengqing's calligraphy art for many times. His works are fresh and handsome in style, natural and fluent, and full of book spirit.
