Xi 'an Academy of Fine Arts was founded in 1949. Its predecessor was the Second Branch of Northwest People's Academy of Fine Arts. /kloc-0 moved from Linfen, Shanxi Province to xingguo temple, Chang 'an County, xi Province in July, 1949, and was renamed the Art College of Northwest Military and Political University. After the Northwest Art Institute, Northwest Art Institute and other stages, it was officially named Xi 'an Academy of Fine Arts on May 1994. At present, it is a national authorized unit for doctoral, master's and bachelor's degrees, and one of the "distinctive and high-level" universities in Shaanxi Province.

The college has the right to award doctoral and master's degrees in three first-class disciplines: art theory, fine arts and design art, as well as the right to apply for master's degree and master's degree in-service postgraduate training for MFA and university teachers. 20 14 was approved to study art in Post-Doctoral Research Center. The college has a number of national teaching teams, top-quality courses, characteristic majors, innovative experimental areas for talent training models, experimental teaching demonstration centers, comprehensive professional reform pilots, teaching and research bases, off-campus practice bases for college students, and demonstration bases for red classic art education. In recent years, teachers and students have created a large number of excellent works of art, won thousands of awards in national exhibitions, and established long-term friendly and cooperative relations with more than 20 internationally renowned art colleges and institutions.

There are libraries, western art museums and art galleries in the college. There are more than 558,000 paper documents, more than 300 ancient and modern paintings and calligraphy works 1.300, 368 historical relics (groups), more than 20,000 folk art collections, and stone carvings such as Maza Piles and Shishi. There is a professional academic publication "Northwest Fine Arts".
