The basic tasks of national defense education are: popularizing national defense knowledge, training military skills, cultivating national defense reserve talents, stimulating patriotic enthusiasm, enhancing national defense concepts, enhancing national self-esteem, self-confidence, pride, cohesion and centripetal force, and improving citizens' consciousness of fulfilling national defense obligations.

National defense education includes all kinds of social activities to enhance the national defense thinking, knowledge, skills and physical quality of the whole people and help form and improve the national defense concept and ability.

The purpose of establishing National Defense Education Day is to carry forward the spirit of patriotism, popularize national defense education, and enable the whole people to enhance their national defense concepts, master the necessary national defense knowledge and military skills, consciously fulfill their national defense obligations, and care for, support and participate in national defense construction.
