Shanghai Conservatory of Music was founded in 1927, co-founded by an outstanding democratic revolutionary and educator, Mr. Cai Yuanpei, and a famous music educator, Dr. Xiao. This is the earliest higher professional music school in China and a world-famous first-class music school, enjoying a high reputation at home and abroad.

In order to meet the needs of socialist spiritual civilization construction, the teachers of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, in line with the teaching reform concept of serving the public and contributing to improving the cultural quality of the whole nation, actively walked out of the school gate and took the lead in conducting music training and grading examination activities nationwide 1983. Over the years, the quality of social grading examination and the grading examination certificate issued by the college have been recognized by all walks of life.

Since 200 1, the department of social education has been established in the college, which has made the social music education in the college more perfect and entered a new stage of development.

Shanghai Conservatory of Music was founded on June 27th, 1927, 165438. Its predecessor was the National Conservatory of Music, the earliest institution of higher learning in China, founded by the democratic revolutionist, outstanding educator, thinker Cai Yuanpei and music educator Xiao.
