Shanghai Medical Devices College was founded in 2000 by the Central Ministry of Health 1960, and it was successively subordinate to the State Administration of Medicine and the State Food and Drug Administration of the United States, and was managed by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. It is the only independent full-time general higher vocational college in China that focuses on modern equipment manufacturing and specializes in training high-skilled medical device talents. The school has played an irreplaceable role in cultivating skilled medical device talents in China, made great contributions to the cause of health and medical devices in China, and is known as the cradle of modern medical device technicians in China.
Shanghai Medical Device College is the only college in China that specializes in training engineers and technicians of medical devices and pharmaceutical equipment. It undertakes the training and further study of professional and technical personnel in the medical device industry and pharmaceutical machinery industry, and is a national medical device and pharmaceutical equipment training center authorized by the US Food and Drug Administration. Shanghai Medical Devices College was founded by the Central Ministry of Health in 1960, and has been led successively by the State Administration of Medicine and the Food and Drug Administration since 198 1. In 2000, the school was transferred to Shanghai, which was jointly established by the central and local governments and mainly managed by the Shanghai municipal government. In May 2003, with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal Government, Shanghai Medical Device College was placed under the management of Shanghai University of Science and Technology, which was established and officially listed in July of the same year. Implementing the management mode of "one team, two brands" and relying on the advantages of running a school and discipline construction of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, the enrollment and teaching of medical device and pharmaceutical engineering specialty has realized the leap-forward development from junior college education to undergraduate education.
