Weekly colorful English corner activities are one of the characteristics of York school, which are usually arranged every Saturday night. This kind of English corner activity is different from other English corner activities in the society, because we divide the participants into different levels and strictly limit the number of people, so that students can understand western customs and cultures through such activities, get to know foreign teachers from different countries after class, and improve their oral listening level.

English corner

This is the best time for students to talk freely with foreign teachers. Before the activity, foreign churches carefully prepared some English topics. Of course, students can also bring up topics of interest to talk about. In order to achieve the best results, York will arrange students of the same level together.

English club

This activity is usually held at 7:30 on Saturday night in a beautiful coffee shop. The number of people is limited to eight. Students can bring friends to make an appointment.

Movie Night

Through this activity, students' understanding of English movies can be strengthened. Foreign churches download relevant film and television materials from websites, such as: character descriptions, primary and secondary plots of stories, classic dialogues, film and television comments by foreign journalists, etc. Before watching the film, the foreign church described the director's creative motivation, unforgettable shooting process, the influence of the film in the west, the background of the times, the main characters, personality and so on. Halfway through, the foreign church suspended the film in time so that the students could discuss the above issues in time. At the end of the film, we will organize students to talk freely, share their views and ask questions.

A wonderful night of music

The purpose is to further enhance students' understanding of the culture of English-speaking countries. The foreign church introduced an outstanding artist and musician. Discuss with students the creation time of the song, the composer's inspiration, the historical background of the song and why it conforms to the cultural development at that time. Students can discuss the meaning of lyrics and the artistic conception of music with each other. At the same time, foreign churches provide students with opportunities to express their views and discuss the cultural connotation of songs. If students are interested in playing or singing this song by themselves, we will hold an open karaoke for them to show their skills.

Students need to answer some basic knowledge (such as geography, history, celebrities, music, movies, animals, nature, sports, hobbies and so on) in English. Students can compete in groups, and the winner will become the champion and get the prize.

Classic photography club

Before talking about photos, ask students to talk about their work, ideas and creative motives. Then, they can describe the place, time, weather, light, the scene at that time, what happened and why they chose this photo. We will hold such activities regularly to share students' work and life.

Social debate

This is specially prepared for middle and advanced students. York will ask a question in the form of a typical English debate. The foreign church will prepare the theme of the debate in advance, and of course it will give students enough time to prepare for the debate.

On the basis of vocabulary and related grammar, foreign churches tell children the most popular fairy tales in English-speaking countries.
