Shaanxi has large coal reserves and many coal mines. In the past, the "black belt" in Shaanxi refers to Conghancheng, Bai Pu Mining Bureau and Tongchuan Mining Bureau in Weibei, Shaanxi. In recent years, with the development of Shenfu coalfield (Shenmu to Fugu) in northern Shaanxi, "black hat" has appeared in Shaanxi, with thick coal seam, shallow burial, huge reserves and good mining conditions. The development in recent years is also related to the central and western areas of Chang Bin coalfield (Binxian to Changwu and Xunyi). There is little coal in southern Shaanxi, which belongs to inferior anthracite with a long geological history, low calorific value, high ash content and small reserves.
